How I finally stopped translating in my head and started thinking in English
Hey everyone! I've been studying English for about 3 years now, and for the longest time, my biggest hurdle was constantly translating everything from my native language (Spanish) into English before speaking or writing. It made conversations slow and awkward.
Recently, I tried something that really helped: I started doing my daily journal entirely in English, even if it was full of mistakes. I also switched my phone and social media to English, and began watching Netflix shows with English subtitles instead of Spanish. After about a month, I noticed I wasn't consciously translating as much—I was just understanding and responding.
Has anyone else struggled with this? What tricks worked for you to start 'thinking' in English? Would love to hear your experiences and tips!
